The Future of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)

September 9, 2019

The Supreme Court announced that it will hear appeals of three cases related to injunctions halting the Trump Administration’s attempts to terminate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program this fall.

In June, the Court announced that it will consolidate the review of those cases into one hearing and decisions will be issued in spring or summer of 2020. The appeals do not end the injunctions that are in place — for now. Therefore, those eligible should renew their DACA as soon as possible.

With risks to programs like DACA becoming more common, it’s important as ever to urge members of Congress to support legislation like the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019, which passed in the House of Representatives. It provides a pathway to citizenship for many undocumented individuals in the United States.
